hypnotherapy dorsetThe mind is divided into conscious and subconscious awareness. The conscious mind is analytical, so it is also our protector; it houses our short-term memory and it is the part that sleeps at night. The subconscious mind works 24/7 and controls our physiology such as heart beat, breathing, digestion etc. It is also where all memories are stored and additionally, it controls our belief system and patterns of learnt behaviour for our survival. However, these patterns of behaviour may no longer be relevant to us, but the subconscious mind, not knowing that because it is unable to analyse like the conscious mind, will simply carry on doing what it has been programmed to do, unaware that it may not be in our best interest. The good news is, that although these old beliefs and patterns have in fact been learnt and subsequently programmed into your subconscious mind by you in your early years, they can be unlearnt and that is where hypnotherapy can help.

Hypnotherapy, is a method used to alter our feelings, thoughts and behaviour in a  specific and positive way.  This is achieved by gently talking you into a relaxed, trance like state, similar to day dreaming. This enhances focus and sensitivity, allowing suggestion of the beneficial changes you wish to make to be absorbed into your subconscious mind, thereby creating new patterns of belief and behaviour. Whilst you are pleasantly relaxed (neither asleep or unconscious) there is awareness which enables you to remain in control, but there will be changes. What is essential is that you present with the motivation to change. 


Additionally, I was trained by Helen Breward to work with her specialised 'Menopause Relief Programme'. This is a four session Hypnotherapy programme which teaches you to learn how to take back control over menopausal symptoms, especially those hot flushes and night sweats that can be so debilitating.
